GENERAL AFFIDAVIT

State of Ohio, County of Preble, SS:

In the matter of Pension Claim No. 617033 of Wid. Alfred Foucht late of Company F. 131st Regiment Ohio Inft. Vols.

On this 20 day of March 1903, before me, a Justice of the Peace within and for the County and State aforesaid, personally appeared Eli H. Morris, age 56 years, whose post office address is Gratis County of Prebble State of Ohio, well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn according to law, upon his oath declares, that he was late a Private of Co F. 131st Reg't of Ohio Inft. Vols. and was well acquainted with Alfred Focht who was also a Private in the same Company. That when he enlisted in May 1864, he was apparently in the best of health and spirits. That about the time we started home he remembers he was looking bad, was thin in flesh and had had sallow complexion and dark spots or blotches on his face. After he came home I saw him occasionally as long as he lived. He continued to have an emaciated appearance. I never went to his house to see him after he got home and do not know the cause of his death. My recollection is that he was never as stout and healthy after his service as he was at the time he enlisted and had been before. He testifies from personal knowledge and has no interest in this case.

Subscribed and sworn to me, this 20 day of March 1903 and I certify that the contents of the foregoing affidavit were duly read and fully made known to affiants before making oath to the same, and that I have no interest in this matter.
